Biography
Dr. Xi Steven Chen is a Professor of Biostatistics in the Department of Public Health Sciences at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He leads the Translational Statistical Bioinformatics Lab, which combines data science and statistics with genomic research to advance our understanding of cancer and other complex conditions. Dr. Chen has directed multiple NIH-funded projects centered on gene expression, proteomics, and methylation data in cancer. An author of over 170 peer-reviewed publications, he collaborates extensively with biologists and clinicians to discover biomarkers, refine treatment response predictions, and translate genomic insights into patient care. His work focuses on multi-omics methods, biomarker discovery, and predictive modeling, aiming to expand the possibilities of precision medicine. -

Research Interests
Dr.Chen has extensive experience with statistical and bioinformatics research, both in methodology and applications that relate to this application. In particular, a major focus of his research has been on translational cancer research in triple-negative breast cancer and colorectal to discover effective biomarkers and to enable a better understanding of cancer biology through innovative genomic data analysis. He has published more than 150 papers on research topics, including high-dimensional variable selection, prediction modeling, biomarker discovery, genomic pathway data analysis, and their applications to complex diseases, especially cancers. -
